Nice Bucket Filling

3Sp doing some something FUN.  It is called bucket filling.  Bucket filling is something that 3Sp does.  We have clock charts that helps people see who their partner is.  When you know who your partner is, you have to write them a note but you’re not supposed to tell them what is on the note.  As an example, lots of people have been writing to me, “You are very funny.”  This is bucket filling because it makes kids feel nice.  A few days later the card is on our table spot and you would see what the kid wrote to you.  Then you put your card in your paper bucket.  If someone is upset from something then it comes time for bucket filling, we can give them notes so they can be happy.  If you fill someone else’s bucket, it will fill the world’s bucket.

The Model Magic Mystery

Everyone was so excited for the Model Magic.  We were making a treat out of the Model Magic for our Sweat Treats project.  We were all waiting until one day something wonderful happened.  It came the Model Magic finally came.  I walked into class that morning, and I said to myself “YES! It's here finally here.”  I did what I needed to do, then I sat down and opened the pack of Model Magic.  I was really hoping that Ms. Sprague gave us a long time to work because I came in late that day and didn't have a lot of time to work. So I tried I really tried but I didn't get to finish, but so many other groups got to finish.  I couldn’t even choose which could be my favorite. They were all amazing. You should have seen what I saw.  If you were there you would be amazed about what you were seeing.  They were AMAZING!!!!!  

Reader's Theater

Hi I am Haily and I am going to tell you all about Readers Theater.  The whole class was divided into four groups. Each group gets a script about the story they are reading.  In my group I am reading How the Rhino Got Wrinkly Skin.  Me and my group have characters.  I am Storyteller 2.  Tessa is Storyteller 1, Jessica is Parsee, Kian is a rhino, Angel is a snake, and Gavin is a mongoose. There are other stories like Why Mole Lives Underground, The Lion And The Rabbit and another story like Pecos Bill And Sluefoot Sue.  Our assignments are to practice reading your part expressively and put more personality into it.  After we practice our teacher said that we are going to present it to our kindergarten buddies.  This will be very fun to read to our buddies soon.

Opinion Writing

We are starting opinion writing in 3Sp.  It's very fun.  We made opinion organizers. They look like bookmarks and they organize your opinion writing: lead, opinion, reason one, so on and so forth.  We also mixed up weird strips and tried to glue them in the right order.  Opinion writing is very very fun! It’s also hard but it’s just the right challenge and 3Sp loves opinion writing. Like I said earlier, opinion writing is very very very fun! Opinion writing is our topic in writing in 3Sp.  We also are going to do opinion pieces.  The topics are: cloning animals, soccer versus football, school uniforms,  and working dogs.  Writing is the best!  At least 3sp thinks so.  We all love it and we all agree that opinion writing is the best don't you! And if you don't you have to try it!  At least I think so.  I hope I persuaded you but anyway let's get back to business.  3Sp also did something very fun on the rug.  We put up little pieces of paper up.  They had opinions on them like “Cats are absolutely better than dogs.” There was an agree side and a disagree side and everyone had to choose one side.  The people on the sides had to write three reasons for or against the opinion statement.  It's very fun and it helps us with opinion writing because you had to write three reasons on the rug for the opinion activity and you have to write three reasons for the opinion writing.  Opinion writing is so so so so fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comic Books in Class

Hi my name is Braeden and I am going to tell about how our class did comic books in our homework!   We worked really hard and because we did it right before vacation.  Some people like me had to share on Thursday and we had only four days to work on it.   The other kids had five days to work on it.  Don’t worry parents we didn’t do it the whole week we also did reading and some of reflex/flashcards, but there were more reflex/flashcards than reading which I thought that was a little wired!  But anyway my comic is about this team of hockey players and they have a championship game on Christmas day.  “It would be a hard game,” Braeden said before the game.  They were playing an amazing team.  And in the end the team won!  So that was my comic book and everyone else did one too!   Overall I think that was the best homework assignment in the entire world!  I had a blast and I hope my friends did too!   Bye now.  I will be back online in like 2 months and then I will tell you about what more things we do in class!

Buddies Part 2

Yyyyeeessss!!!!  We have buddies again! I can’t remember my buddy’s name though.  Think Abby.  Think .   Later Ms. Hirsch came in and started pairing up the buddies again. “Sam and Jack, Tessa and Edwin…” Ms. Hirsch was saying.  Wow there are a lot of buddies, I thought. “Abby and Evelyn.” OOOOHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That’s my buddy’s name!  What activity are we going to do this time?  “Bingo dots,” Ms. Hirsch said. Bingo dots?  What are those?  Ms. Hirsch explained that bingo dots were little dots of paint that are inside a bottle and the bottle is filled with paint so the Bingo dots don’t dry out.  “I brought these special papers that you can fill them out with the Bingo dots,” said Ms. Hirsch.  “Wow Evelyn you are a very good at coloring!” I said.  When it was time for the buddies to leave everybody said goodbye.  “BYE SEE YOU NEXT TIME!!!!”  I can’t wait for the buddy’s to come back because I had a really fun time.

The New Snack Time Book!

In snack we are reading a book called The One And Only Ivan.  Ivan is a silverback gorilla.  He can be very funny sometimes. Ivan thinks a lot. One of the things Ivan thinks is that humans talk too much. Also Ivan says that gorillas are very patient and humans, well, he thinks not so much. Ivan used to be a wild gorilla, but now he lives in the Big Top Mall at Exit 8. It’s not an appropriate habitat for any animal to be living in. Ivan has been living there for 27 years (9,855 days). The domains that they have for the animals are like jail cells. Ivan has a lot of stuff in his domain like a TV and a mini swimming pool with dirty water!  But Ivan can do a lot of things that other gorillas can’t do, like he can draw. He says that he draws a very good banana but the owner (Mack) of the Big Top Mall, says that his drawing is a piece of junk.  Poor Ivan.  Ivan once thought he was the only gorilla left then… he saw a real gorilla on his TV in his domain.

Ivan has friends like Stella (elephant), Bob (dog) and other animals like that. Everything is all normal, until the animals find out that a new animal is coming. Everybody is excited, but Stella is not. She says it is a elephant and she is a elephant. She is worried that she is going to have to share her cage with the elephant. The cage that she has is already so tiny, she could only take two steps each way!!! Stella was right. It was an elephant but it was a baby. Her name was Ruby.  Ruby starts calling Stella Aunt Stella and they become connected.  Like they are family!!! A couple weeks later the book is very sad. Sadly Stella DIED!!! Ruby is very sad. The Big Top Mall is sort of like a circus. The Big Top Mall has shows and Ruby is so sad she can’t even do her tricks!!! Also Stella knew that she was going die so she made a promise with Ivan to keep Ruby safe and have her live somewhere other than The Big Top Mall. Ivan said … yes!!! Ruby has a lot of questions for Ivan. A couple minutes after Stella dies, Ivan is so sad. He wishes his heart was made of ice. Poor Ivan. If you like this blog, you’ll probably like this book. You’ll have to read the end to find out!!!
