In reading we did something called Theme Responses. So basically we take a book from the white book bin and then read it with your turn and talk partner. You might be asking what is a turn and talk partner? Well a turn and talk partner is someone who reads a book with you and you think about the theme together. After you read the book with your partner you get your reading notebook and at least jot down what the theme is. So we say I think the theme of the book is… After you do that I will tell you some themes for the book. So now these are the themes: kindness, courage, friendship, honesty, compassion, responsibility and perseverance. That's almost all of the themes. Then we write at least 5 sentences about the theme. For example, the theme of Flying High 2 is cooperation because they worked together and never gave up until they got it. When you jot down your 5 sentences you have to write at least 5 or 4 reasons to explain why you it think it is that theme. After you do that, make sure you give examples, details, etc=etcetera.
