Author Visit! Geoff Edgers

Featured Blogger: Tess
Something awesome happened on the second day of May 2017. Geoff Edgers came to share about being an author! He is really funny! He shared for three third grade classes and two three-four classes! By the way, Geoff Edgers is my… wait for it… UNCLE! Here is some information about him!  My mom is his sister, he has two kids named Lila (age fourteen) and Calvin (age seven), he lives in West Concord, Massachusetts, his parents live in Brookline, Massachusetts, and I think that's pretty much it!
Geoff wrote four Who Was books. For example, Who Was/Were...   Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Julia Child, and Stan Lee. On the back of every book in the series there is a “quiz” that tells you things they did and it checks of all of the above.  For example, the Elvis book said, “Who Was Elvis Presley? A shy boy who was sometimes teased by other classmates, A singer who became famous when he was only twenty one, The man known around the world as the king of rock ‘n’ roll, or all of the above?” (D is the answer, by the way!)
Geoff told us about the writing process. First, he gets a lot, a lot, a lot of books on that topic or person.  Then, he writes a bunch of notes on the topic or person. After that, he returns all the books and gets ice cream, goes to the movies, orders an extra large pepperoni pizza, and goes out for a night with the guys!  Then he writes it by hand based on the notes and after that, he sends it to the agent. Then they correct it and he fixes it and he keeps going until they say that it’s acceptable and he types it on the computer and prints it out and sends it to the publisher and they print it.
After that, they send it to the illustrator and they make the illustration.  Then they send it to the publisher to get the cover and the quiz on the back.  Then the book is published to the public! This takes more than a year, or two, or three, or… seven to ten!  All of his books are super informational and very real!  So much information is packed inside the book, that you can write two biographies about the person or people!  Not saying you have to, but it will be cool if you do that! Well that's all for now folks! I hope you search up Geoff Edgers on Google Chrome so you know what he looks like! Also you should read his books too! Bye bye!
