Cursive

Featured Blogger: Jack

Hey, do you what 3Sp is learning? We’re learning cursive!!! The first letter we learned was L. We’re learning lower case letters first, then upper case letters. We learn cursive letters in a blue workbook. By the way, we also learned E, H, B, F, K, I, J, P, R, S, T, U, W, C, A, O and D. All the letters start at the grass line. What's the grass line you will ask? Well, there are 4 lines: the worm, the grass, the plane, and the sky line. Got it? Now, let me tell you what part of the day we learn it. We learn cursive either at the end of the day or in the morning. We do skywriting, which is when we write the letter in the air. We also need to practice at it to get good at it. Cursive is... AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!  And the BEST!!!!!!!!  By: Jack

Culture Cubes

Featured Blogger: Will
Hey! Guess what 3Sp made! Culture cubes!!! There are 4 sides and a bottom...AND you draw a self portrait on the top!!!!!! I put music, food, language, customs, and family tree on it.  It was really cool to be able to make a culture cube! Everyone will get to share their culture cube.  So far we've had 1 person share. There are a lot of different religions in this class so we will get to hear a lot of different things from a lot of different cultures! Some of the languages are Portuguese, German, and American. We put a lot of effort into the culture cubes that we made.    We are going to learn a lot about each other’s cultures when we all share.

The ending of my blog !!!

Playing the Recorder

Featured Blogger: Matt
Hey 3Sp got recorders!  The colors are red, blue, white and green.  I got blue and I am learning how to play it.  We read about when the recorder was first made.  Some of the class got to trade parts of their recorder. No germs were on it.  I love it.  We are learning to play them!  You should play it at home.  I am so happy we got them.  Also you should put your name on the case.  You have to get the white belt.  You might be asking how do you get the white belt.  Well you have to know how to play hot cross buns.  Our class knows how to play!  Playing the recorder is fun!!!

Wampanoag Study

Featured Blogger: Sammie
3Sp is learning about the Pilgrims and Wampanoags!  We are starting out with the Wampanoags but we will learn about the Pilgrims too!  3Sp took a field trip to Plimoth Plantation and saw how the Pilgrims and Wampanoags lived in the 1600s!  Ms. Sprague has been reading us chapters of a Magic Tree House book about the Wampanoags in social studies!

3Sp did a fun activity where you have a partner and get assigned a picture.  With the picture you had to guess what it was and answer 6 questions.  (The pictures were blurry)!  Then we had to share it.  We have packets that have things to do and stuff to learn about in them!  3Sp is doing an activity with folders that have some cards and some articles in it too!  We will be learning about what the Wampanoags did in the 1600s to survive!  We learned that girls and boys did different chores instead of the same ones!  Wampanoags lived in a wetu in the summer and in a different home in the other seasons!  3Sp had a real Wampanoag come in on December 13!

The topics for an activity we are doing are: Food, A Thankful Spirit, People Of The First Light, Hunting, Fishing, Wampanoag Homes, Wampanoag Clothing, Roles And Responsibilities, Children, Leaders, Legend Of Maushop, and Wampanoag Language!  We are doing research about every day now but not every single day!  3Sp is having so much fun!  We switch the folders every day.  We love learning about the Wampanoags in social studies.

We will learn about the Pilgrims later!!

The Wampanoag Visit

Featured Blogger: Landon
Hello! Welcome to 3Sp! This week we had a Wampanoag person come to teach us about their culture. The Wampanoag’s name was Phillip. He first taught us about animal skins and how his ancestors used them. He said that “deer skin was very useful back then.” He had animal skins like deer, skunk, and beaver and much more. He said that skunks are very good for food and how they caught skunks without getting sprayed. He said they would put a trap down and make it walk on the trap with food on it and the skunk would be in the air. You're thinking how does that help? Skunks have their place where they spray attached to their legs! So if they’re in the air they can’t spray!

Phillip said “beaver skin is perfect to hold a baby in it because it’s soft and waterproof so if a baby spills or drools it will be dry in no time! And all you need to do is bend it correctly and done.” They also made games with deer scraps like bones and a little bit of deer skin. We all had fun during the visit and i hope you learned about the Wampanoag visit this week.
